Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Construction Buddy (“Construction Buddy”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

In short: we use your information to provide construction expense recording, organization, and Google Sheets synchronization. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive information such as your Google account identifier, name, email address, and confirmation that your email is verified. We use this information to authenticate you and create your organization workspace.

Construction and expense information

We process information you submit, including site names, payee names, amounts, dates, work or material details, quantities, payment methods, notes, expense status, and edit or deletion history.

Voice information

When you choose to record an expense, the app captures audio and sends it securely to our service for transcription and structured expense extraction. Construction Buddy does not intentionally retain the original audio after processing. The transcript and extracted information may be retained with the expense record so the Service can provide and improve the requested functionality.

Google Sheets information

If you connect Google Sheets, we store the identifiers needed to locate your Construction Expenses spreadsheet and authorization credentials needed to synchronize it. We use the limited Google Drive file permission (drive.file) so the Service can create and manage only files used with Construction Buddy; we do not request access to unrelated Drive files.

Technical information

Our infrastructure may process basic technical and security information such as request timestamps, IP addresses, error logs, device or app version, authentication-session identifiers, feature-usage events, and performance timings. Crash reports use a random diagnostics identifier rather than your name or email. Analytics and crash reports do not intentionally include expense amounts, transcripts, payee or site names, notes, or spreadsheet links.

2. How we use information

Authenticate users and maintain secure sessions.
Transcribe voice input and prepare expense fields for review.
Store, display, update, and delete construction expense records.
Create and synchronize the Google spreadsheet you connect to the Service.
Prevent misuse, investigate errors, and maintain reliability and security.
Respond to support and privacy requests.

3. Google API data

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to provide or improve the user-facing features you request, maintain security, or comply with applicable law.

4. Service providers and sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share information only when needed to operate the Service, comply with law, or protect users. Our service providers may include:

Google: account authentication and Google Sheets/Drive functionality.
Google Firebase: aggregated product analytics, diagnostics, and crash reporting.
OpenAI: speech transcription and conversion of transcripts into structured expense fields.
Amazon Web Services: application hosting, database infrastructure, backups, and network services.

These providers process data according to their applicable terms and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information when legally required or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or harm.

5. Storage, security, and retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network connections, authenticated access, tenant-scoped database operations, and restricted infrastructure access. No system can guarantee absolute security.

We retain account and expense information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Deleted items may remain temporarily in protected backups or audit records before being removed through normal retention cycles.

6. Your choices and rights

You can review and correct an expense before submitting it, and can edit or delete supported records from the app. You can revoke Construction Buddy’s Google access through your Google Account connections.

7. Children

The Service is designed for construction businesses and working professionals. It is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. International processing

Your information may be processed in India and in other countries where our service providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws from your location.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We will publish the revised policy here and change the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service when appropriate.
